WHAT IS ‘WNS’ BOYS LACROSSE?
The WNS boys lacrosse program is a co-op with the Whitefish Bay, Nicolet and Shorewood Recreation Departments. The program plays in the Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) league. We play other MAYLA teams from Ozaukee, Brookfield, Wauwatosa, Waukesha and other local communities. The WNS program includes grades 3 through 8 and divided into three groups with teams at 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade. All teams practice twice per week. There are about 15 games per season. WNS does have a ‘house’ 1st/2nd grade team. This team plays ‘in-house’ scrimmages with an occasional game against another local ‘house’ team. There are two practices per week for the 1st/2nd grade team.
Outdoor practices are at Lydell School in Whitefish Bay and start late March. Home games are at Shorewood HS or Whitefish Bay HS. Games start the last weekend in April and end the second Sunday in June.
The WNS program is dedicated to teaching lacrosse skills in a fun, yet competitive environment. The focus is on developing team lacrosse players and not winning at all costs. WNS also offers summer, fall and winter clinics.
